Aim of the Committee
There has been a long tradition of excellence in orthopaedic surgery in Europe and many great surgical advances have come from the “old” continent. Recent years have been particularly remarkable in terms of development of shoulder and elbow surgery in Europe. Today, modern surgical techniques are more widely accessible across Europe and a new generation of highly skilled experts is emerging. This evolution means great opportunities for our professional community but also important responsibilities for the future of the field.
It is important for SECEC, as the voice of shoulder and elbow surgery in Europe, to accompany this evolution. This is why the Support Committee was created.
The SECEC Support Committee is dedicated to the development and promotion of shoulder and elbow surgery in rising economies, focusing mostly on Emerging and Developing European countries. These countries represent a growing force in the advancement of surgical knowledge and practice.
We aim to foster the integration of all surgeons in the SECEC Community by:
- promoting access to cutting-edge education, for example through reduced fees to attend the annual congress,
- international collaboration, through a dedicated fellowship,
- research opportunities.
By empowering these rising players in shoulder and elbow surgery, we contribute to a more inclusive and dynamic future for SECEC.“
